What the Research Suggests About CBD & Heart Health
Let’s talk about high blood pressure. High blood pressure is the leading risk factor for hypertensive heart disease. Your blood pressure tends to rise under stress, but some research suggests a dose of CBD can lessen that spike.
In a 2009 study, rats were subjected to stressful situations. This in turn caused their blood pressure and heart rate to increase. When given a dose of CBD, it lowered their blood pressure and heart rate.
In a 2017 study, healthy volunteers underwent stressful situations. Half were given a dose of CBD and the other half placebo. The CBD ended up lowering their blood pressure, compared to volunteers given a placebo.
However, a 2017 review of 25 studies found that there’s no evidence that CBD provides similar results under non-stressful conditions.
While more research is needed to say for sure, CBD may be useful in lowering blood pressure and heart rate under stress. Always talk to your doctor before using CBD if you have high blood pressure.
Using CBD for Your Heart
